Sielu



Silloin Herra Jumala teki maan tomusta ihmisen ja puhalsi (naphach) hänen sieramiinsa elämän hengen (neshamah), ja niin ihmisestä tuli elävä sielu (nephesh; elävä olento).

11 Sillä lihan sielu elämä (nephesh) on veressä (dam), ja minä olen sen teille antanut alttarille, että se tuottaisi teille  teidän elämällenne (nephesh) sovituksen; sillä veri (dam) tuottaa sovituksen koska sielu on siinä elämälle (nephesh).
12 Sentähden minä olen sanonut israelilaisille: Älköön kukaan teistä syökö verta (dam); älköön myöskään muukalainen, joka asuu teidän keskellänne, syökö verta (dam).
3. Moos. 17:11-12



Sillä kaiken lihan sielu elämä (nephesh) on sen veri (dam), jossa sen sielu elämä (nephesh) on; sentähden minä sanon israelilaisille: Älkää syökö minkään lihan verta. Sillä kaiken lihan sielu elämä (nephesh) on sen veri; jokainen, joka sitä syö, hävitettäköön.

Elämä on veressä. Kun verenkierto pysähtyy, niin elämä päättyy.
