EIRENE KREIKAN MYTOLOGIASSA

"Eirene ("rauha") oli kreikkalaisessa mytologiassa yksi kolmesta horasta. Hän oli Zeuksen ja Themiksen tytär, ja Diken ja Eunomian sisar. Näillä sukulaissuhteilla ilmaistiin, että rauha on seurausta vallasta (Zeus) yhdistettynä oikeudenmukaisiin lakeihin (Themis), joka pysyy, kun yhteiskunnassa vallitsee laki (kreik. Dike) ja järjestys (kreik. Eunomia).

Eirene oli rauhan henkilöitymä, jonka vastine roomalaisessa mytologiassa oli Pax. Eirene kuvattiin nuorena neitona, jonka käsissä oli lapsenomainen Plutos, vaurauden jumaluus, ja runsaudensarvi, jotka symbolisoivat rauhan siunauksellista vaikutusta ja mukanaantuomaa hyötyä. EIRENE SELITYS

eirene (1515) tulee verbistä eiro = liittää tai sitoa yhteen se, mikä on erotettu. Se kuvaa kirjaimellisesti sitä, että se, mikä oli erotettu tai jaettu, sidotaan tai liitetään yhteen ja näin ollen asetetaan jälleen yhdeksi, ja tämä merkitys välittyy yleisestä ilmaisusta ”kaikki on yhdessä”. Tästä seuraa, että rauha on jakautumisen tai erimielisyyden vastakohta. Rauha on sopusoinnun ja harmonian tila, joka on sodan vastakohta. Rauha on häiriötön tila,  joko ulkoisesti, kuten kansakunnan sodasta tai vihollisista, tai sisäisesti, kuten tässä yhteydessä, sielun sisällä. Rauha merkitsee terveyttä, hyvinvointia ja vaurautta.
